2017 USPSA Area 3 (Crossfit) Championship

Well I’ve finally gotten time to watch my video and evaluate my first area match. As Jon put it before we even left the range “this isn’t a typical area match.” I knew I was fat, slow and less athletic than I was back when I was 16 and playing football and had an idea of what to expect. However, I didn’t expect what could be described as a crossfit event with guns. I got my ass kicked in so many ways and it reinforced the need for me to get into better shape if I want to actually shoot like I know I want to. I came back from the match with a better picture of what I need to do and a lot of stuff to break down and analyze over the next few weeks and months. I’m not going to break it down like I normally do, I’m just going to throw out what I’ve noticed over all. Continue reading 2017 USPSA Area 3 (Crossfit) Championship

Better Late Than Never Match Review

Well it has been a few days since my last match and it went really well to say the least. Jon and I had most of the RO duties and with him volunteering to go first on the stages helped me out so it kept us separated and allowed me to still focus on the game. My squad was small and a little bit on the lazy side and I caught myself pulling out the asshole card on a couple of occasions… oh well. Some of the usual heat was not there but it was still a good match with some challenges. One of the main things I was focusing on this match was shooting A’s and moving more efficiently. First Carry Optics Match

This week I put away one Glock 17 for the other Glock 17 and made the decision to shoot Carry Optics. There is several reasons behind why I made the change, one of them being that I was starting to feel bored and burnt out. I haven’t done hardly anything with the gun since the Super-Classifier in May and I only started to dry-fire it on Tuesday. Got a good live-fire session on Friday so I felt comfortable to say the least. Planning out the stages at the beginning of the day felt a little weird planning out shots past 10 rounds. I felt that I had decent stage plans but didn’t have huge expectations. Continue reading First Carry Optics Match

2017 Great Plains Sectional Championship

This past weekend Jon, Tim and I loaded up into the Honda and took off down to the Great Plains Sectional Championship in Louisville, NE. Weather called for hot and sunny but just before our stage briefing on the first stage the sky opened up and it started to rain. It continued to rain for most of the morning and early afternoon. I went into this match with a goal of shooting Alphas and seeing my sights which seems to be a problem of mine lately as I have been apparently trying to shoot faster than my current ability. Master Class, Instructor Mode, and Stuff

Well it’s official I am a Master class shooter. I made it in by the skin of my teeth after I filled out a couple of forms to get my GM runs from Omaha and Sioux Falls counted. Now that I have the M after my name I NEED to get to shooting like a Master in matches. I haven’t been dry-fireing like I should be the last couple of weeks with a bunch of family things going on last week. I did work on some stuff and was working on Burkett reloads moving into a position around the house on Friday last week so I’m at least doing something. Next week I plan on getting back to a regular schedule. Continue reading Master Class, Instructor Mode, and Stuff
